“Community-built” is an interactive process that involves the local community in the design, organization and construction of projects. We encourage citizens of all skill levels and ages to come join in. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will bring our community together for the equivalent of a modern day barn raising.
The Twisty Pines Playground will be built in 5 days (yes, you did read that correctly!)

What will I see when I get there?
Most noticeably, The Margaret Berman Memorial Park will be turned into a construction site! We are building a playground and will be using heavy machinery, big and small. We expect 75 or more volunteers on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 325 or more on the weekend.
Parking
The Northern end of the lot will be cleared for limited parking. We are working on a plan for overflow parking. Stay tuned for more information. Walking and riding your bike would be appreciated!
All volunteers must sign in at the Volunteer station located near the South end of the park. This is also the Medical Area. All First Aid supplies, as well as medical personnel, are located here.
Childcare Tent
A childcare tent will be located at the park. It will be well away from ANY construction. It will be enclosed with temporary fencing for security purposes. Additionally, there will be comprehensive security measures in place to ensure your children's safety.
Food Service Tent
Food will be located in a large tent near the site. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily.
The Site
The build site is located at the corner of 69th & 155th on the east side. The entire construction site will be fenced in for safety. Leathers & Associates representatives will be on site supervising the build. Captains and committee heads from the Twisty Pines Playground project will be wearing brightly colored t-shirts for easy identification.
You do not need to be skilled at carpentry or construction to help
We need 1000 volunteers to help us build this playground. There are many tasks that must be done. You do NOT need to be skilled at carpentry or construction to help. There is something for everyone of every ability.
·

·
Build Volunteers who want to help build are assigned to work in 3 or 4 person teams. You do NOT need to be skilled to build. Each team has ONE skilled person. The definition of a skilled worker is someone who is able to use a circular saw. Skilled workers will wear a colored name tag for identification.
I am interested in becoming a volunteer.

Schedule
“The Build” begins daily at 8:00am and ends at 8:00pm. It is organized into three work shifts each day. We prefer that you work a full shift, however, we know that this may not be possible. Please do not let this stop you from volunteering!
Building, Tools Trailer, Volunteer Table, and Childcare Shifts
You can work for a single shift or for as many shifts as necessary. We understand that some people may need to take quick breaks to pick up children at school, etc. That is not a problem. Please do not let that interfere with signing up for a shift! |
